S.R. Snodgrass, P.C. Announces Three Executive Promotions

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA, JANUARY 10, 2020—S.R. Snodgrass, P.C., an independent accounting and consulting firm with offices in Pennsylvania, is pleased to announce the promotion of three executives: Jeremy S. Burris, Michael A. Caparoula, and Brendan M. Whalen.

Jeremy S. Burris has been promoted from Vice President to Senior Vice President. Burris was recruited by the firm in 2006 after serving as a community bank network and technology administrator. He began his career in the Technology Services Group and progressed over the years, enhancing the firm’s service offerings, to become Vice President in 2013. Burris oversees all IT engagements for a variety of clients, including a large number of financial institutions, across Pennsylvania and in the mid-Atlantic region. Among his many certifications, he has obtained the highest licensure in the IT security trade: Licensed Penetration Tester. Burris’s expertise and leadership in the network security field has led to S.R. Snodgrass’s selection as the PACB Services, Inc.’s Preferred Provider for attack and penetration testing services.

Burris received a bachelor’s degree in the secondary education of mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University. He holds Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Security+, and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certifications and is a Licensed Penetration Tester (L|PT), a Certified Penetration Testing Specialist (CPTS), a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), a CORE Impact Certified Professional (CICP), and an EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA). Burris is a member of ISACA, EC-Council, and (ISC)2. He is a passionate conference speaker and frequently leads trainings for clients and their commercial customers.

Michael A. Caparoula has been promoted from Senior Manager to Vice President. Caparoula began his career at S.R. Snodgrass in 2009 as an Associate in the Internal Audit and Regulatory Compliance Outsourcing Group. Over time, he progressed to Senior Manager to oversee all aspects of the client engagement, including preparation, execution, and review of fieldwork and reporting for a variety of financial institution engagements. He has adapted to regulatory changes impacting the banking industry, which has diversified the service offerings needed from his group. Caparoula consistently manages internal and compliance audits, regulatory compliance monitoring implementation and execution, HMDA data scrubs, COSO Framework implementation related to SOX and FDICIA, and SOC reporting. Over the years, he has assisted with recruiting and onboarding efforts, serving as a leader and mentor to many. He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting and business, with a concentration in finance, from Geneva College. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Caparoula is a member of the AICPA and PICPA.

Brendan M. Whalen has been promoted from Senior Manager to Vice President. He was recruited by the firm as an Associate in the Auditing and Assurance Group in 2009. Whalen consistently provides valuable insight relating to complex issues to clients, which primarily include financial institutions and employee benefit plans. His manner and approach to client service is exceptional. He has been an essential leader not only in his group but also in S.R. Snodgrass’s King of Prussia office, from mentoring staff to recruiting new talent. He is heavily involved in the firm\’s commitment to keeping clients informed and updated on important issues by authoring newsletters and creating helpful client materials on behalf of the Auditing and Assurance Group and is also a published author. Whalen received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duquesne University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the AICPA, PICPA, Financial Managers Society, and Insured Financial Institutions of Delaware Valley. S.R.
